The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics issues a weekly report on SPI that shows the comparison of prices of basic commodities and determines the inflation rate in Pakistan. For the analysis, 51 commodities have been selected. The prices are collected from various markets of 17 cities of the country and SPI is calculated on weighted average.
The weekly report on the sensitive price indicator issued by PBS on the 8th of June 2023 shows that there is an increase of 0.21% in the SPI over the previous week (WoW).
Increase in Prices of Essential Commodities
During the week, an increase in 21 items has been recorded. The list of prices of essential commodities and their percentage change with reference to the previous week (WoW) and the corresponding week of last year (YoY) is detailed in the table below:-
