Sensitive Price Indicator is a tool to measure changes in the prices of commodities over a certain time period to assess the inflation rate. Prices of 51 essential commodities that are taken from the markets of 17 cities of Pakistan are used to calculate the SPI on weekly basis.
The Sensitive Price Index for the week ended on 28th of April 2023 has increased by 0.15 % WoW (week on week). The prices of 21 (41.17%) out of 51 have increased during the week, prices of 07 (13.73%) items have decreased and those of 23 (45.10) items remained unchanged.
Increase in Prices
The prices of following 21 items increased during the week. The comparison in percentage over the price of last week (WoW) and corresponding week of last year (2022) (YoY) is given in the following table:-
